The rules we run by
Club Policies
Safeguarding-specific guidance and how to raise a concern lives on the Welfare page — the policies below cover everything else.
Codes of conduct
The documents below set out the code of conduct all club members, parents and volunteers are expected to follow while taking part in, or associated with, the activities of Basildon & Phoenix Swimming Club.
Swim England members are also bound by the Swim England Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct, both in the Swim England Handbook.
Child protection & safeguarding
BPSC has its own Child Safeguarding Policy alongside Good Club guidelines, and we adopt the child protection procedures issued by Swim England under Wavepower.
To report a concern, see Welfare & Safeguarding.
Photography & social media
With camera phones and social media now everywhere, the club publishes guidance on taking and sharing images at training and at galas.
Club equity policy
The Club is committed to treating everyone equally within the context of their activity, regardless of sex, ethnic origin, religion, disability, age, sexual orientation or political persuasion.
The Club will seek to ensure that equity as stated here is incorporated in all aspects of its activities, and recognises and adopts the Sport England definition of sports equity:
Sports equity is about fairness in sport, equality of access, recognising inequalities and taking steps to address them. It is about changing the culture and structure of sport to ensure it becomes equally accessible to everyone in society.
The Club is committed to everyone having the right to enjoy their sport in an environment free from the threat of discrimination, intimidation, harassment and abuse.
All club members have a responsibility to challenge discriminatory behaviour and promote equality of opportunity. The Club will deal with any incidence of discriminatory behaviour seriously, according to the club disciplinary procedures.
